The end of December 2020 saw the Greek government make a bold change to the country\u2019s Golden Visa law. From January 2021, the change was officially approved, granting foreign nationals the chance to now apply for the residency by investment program, commonly known as Greece Golden Visa, completely remotely.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What Changes Are Being Made?<\/b><\/em><\/h3>\n

As per the previous application requirements, applicants were required to be physically present in Greece before being eligible to apply for residency<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> Under the new law, investors and their dependents no longer have to visit Greece at all and can instead sign a Power of Attorney (PoA) with a local law firm in the country, who can then submit the Golden Visa application on the investor\u2019s behalf, as well as complete the qualifying investment.<\/span><\/p>\n

The remote application process can be completed at a local Greek Consulate in the investor\u2019s city. Although the option of PoA was always available to investors, the new changes now mean that the main applicant to the program and their dependents will not need to enter Greece before or during the application process and can receive their \u201cblue certificate\u201d \u2013 i.e., their temporary residence card \u2013 by courier or in the mail.<\/span><\/p>\n
